Cristiano Ronaldo shy of 74 goals from creating footballing history

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is deemed as one of the greatest footballers ever to grace the sport, scored once again for Al Nassr but they were held to a draw against Al Shabab at Al -Awwal Park. It was Ronaldo's 926th goal overall for his club and country.

Ronaldo scored in the extra time allotted for the first half with the help of a precise through pass and rocketed his shot past Al Shabab's goalie Georgiy Bushchan. However, the goal was controversial and the referee initially ruled it as offside. But, after thorough VAR check, the goal was confirmed.

This marks Ronaldo's 18th goal of the season that sees him as the leading goal scorer in the Saudi Pro League. He is now 74 goals shy from making history as he will become the first footballer to score 1000 goals for both club and country.

Al Nassr's struggles in the midfield are evident which is taking a toll on them. Marcelo Brozovic and Ali Al Hassan have not provided with the stability the team thought they would. In the dying moments of the match, Mohammed Al Fatil received a red card. A poor pass from Brozovic left him exposed and forced him to commit a foul.

Al Nassr have all the firepower they need when it comes to offence but it is their defensive line which holds them back. Both of their quality defenders in Mohammed Simakan and Aymeric Laporte rarely play together due to injuries or suspensions.

Can Al Nassr still win the Saudi Pro League?

Al Nassr (48) have an uphill task in front of them as they are currently 10 points behind the league leaders Al Ittihad (58). It is still possible for them to win the league from here but it's not fully in their control as they have to rely on others to lose their matches.

Al Nassr might need to win all their remaining matches and hope that Al Ittihad, Al Hilal and Qadisiya all drop points.
