Despite Max Verstappen winning the Drivers Championship 2024 and Mclaren winning Constructors Title on the back on Lando Norris clinching Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, they failed to bag a record to their name that Alpine's Pierre Gasly achieved in style. Interestingly Gasly made history as the first F1 driver to have not caused any damage during an entire F1 season. he literally had $0 in caused damage.

- 9 points finishes

Pierre Gasly continued his impressive late-season form, helping Alpine secure a sixth-place finish in the 2024 Formula 1 constructors’ standings at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The French driver, who had struggled early in the season with just nine points from the first 20 rounds, found a surge in performance starting with the Brazilian Grand Prix. Both Gasly and Esteban Ocon finished on the podium in Brazil, giving their season a vital boost, which Gasly continued to build upon as the year concluded.

Aiming for Sixth in Abu Dhabi

Gasly entered the season finale with a clear objective: to maintain the five-point lead Alpine had over their closest rivals, Haas, in the constructors' standings. With a new teammate, Jack Doohan, joining him for the 2025 season, Gasly knew the importance of finishing strong in Abu Dhabi.

In a stroke of luck, Gasly benefitted from Nico Hulkenberg's three-place grid penalty following qualifying, which moved him up to P5 on the starting grid. Despite the dominant pace of Red Bull and Mercedes, Gasly fought hard during the race and crossed the finish line in seventh place, 3 seconds ahead of Hulkenberg and securing crucial points for Alpine.

Gasly Reflects on a Successful Season

Gasly’s consistent performance throughout the season helped him finish with 42 points, just one ahead of Hulkenberg in the drivers' standings. After the race, Gasly expressed his satisfaction with the team’s results, saying:

“I’m so happy, it was a very long season. We had one target coming to Abu Dhabi – it was to secure that sixth in the constructors’. Our target was achieved. There was also the drivers’ championship with Nico where we were within a point coming into the last race, so we knew whoever beat the other would get that 10th spot in the championship which I managed to get in the end.”

He continued, “Kept our nose clean the entire season for no damage so the three targets were completed! I’m just very pleased to see the evolution and how the car’s developed – [it] really shows all the work, and the good work the team has done throughout the whole season. It gives me confidence for next season.”

 Looking Ahead to 2025

As Gasly prepares for the 2025 season, which will be the final year before major regulatory changes come into effect in 2026, he expressed optimism about Alpine’s future performance. The team will also switch to Mercedes power units for the 2026 season, further shaping their direction.

“We still have a big gap with the guys ahead but I’m very pleased to see that whatever we’re finding at the factory really translates into performance at the track,” Gasly said.

With Gasly’s confidence and Alpine’s evident progress, the team will look to build on their strong finish as they head into the 2025 season.
