Olympic glory helped him get the long-awaited promotion in Railways.

Swapnil Kusale's recent Olympic glory not only added to India's medal tally at the Paris Games but also brought him a long-awaited promotion. After a nine-year wait, Kusale’s promotion file, which had been stopped at the Central Railway office, was quickly advanced following his impressive performance in Paris. Within hours, he was promoted from Junior TE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) to Officer on Special Duty in the Sports Cell. Kusale, who joined Central Railway in 2015, had faced repeated delays and disappointment in securing a promotion despite his numerous requests. His historic bronze medal in the Men's 50-meter air rifle three position which is considered one of the most challenging shooting events, has now taken his career forward and his name to greater heights. This incredible achievement marks a significant turning point for Kusale, who had been eagerly awaiting this promotion and was previously disheartened by the lack of progress in his career.

According to the Times of India report, Kusale's coach Deepal Deshpande said that he has been working with the railways for the last nine years, but his promotion was never considered. However, Central Railway's Assistant Sports Officer Ranjit Maheshwari had said that the Paris Olympics bronze medalist would get a double promotion. He further said- "This is wrong information. His promotion was not stopped. We spoke to the General Manager and hope that he will get a double promotion in two days."

Seniors' Harsh Behaviour towards Kusale

Kusale’s colleagues revealed how he was often very unhappy with the seniors as they were stopping his promotion time and again and he was heartbroken by the stagnancy in his career. The attitude of his superiors was also very unpleasant to him. Whenever he inquired about his promotion, he received a harsh response. Deshpande noted that Kusale had been instructed to report to the office before departing for Paris to deliver the promotion file. However, Kusale was occupied with training and did not visit the office. Following Swapnil Kusale's Olympic medal win, Central Railway issued instructions for his promotion yesterday.
