Indian swimmers faced a series of setbacks in the pool during the Asian Games on Wednesday, with none securing a spot in the finals of their respective events.
Olympian Maana Patel, despite her efforts, finished fifth in heat 3 and 13th overall, clocking a time of 1:03.55s, which wasn't enough to see her through to the final of the women's 100m backstroke.
Similarly, India's Nina Venkatesh experienced a letdown in the women's 100m butterfly. She ended up fourth in her heat and 14th overall, registering a time of 1:03.89s, thus not advancing further.
The competition format allowed only the top eight swimmers to move on to the finals. Srihari Nataraj posted a time of 1:49.05s in the men's 200m freestyle heats, placing him 10th. He remains on standby as a second reserve for the final.
In the women's 100m breaststroke, India's Lineysha couldn't make the cut for the medal round, finishing sixth in her heat with a time of 1:15.60s.
