After an early exit from the Qatar Open, Novak Djokovic now faces the threat of exiting from the top 10 picture of the ATP rankings. As per the updated standings, the 24-time Grand Slam winner remains at No.7. This means the Serb's ranking hasn't plummeted. However, the threat of a freefall remains as much will depend on how he fares next week at the Indian Wells tournament.
Novak Djokovic Still in Top 10; Jannik Sinner at the Top of the Tree
The new rankings showcase Jannik Sinner still holding the top spot. Sinner is up there at the top with 11,330 points and has a giant leap over the next player in the pecking order, Alexander Zverev, despite being levied with a 3-month ban. Zverev lost at the quarterfinal stage of both the Argentina Open and the Rio Open but holds command over the second spot with 8135 points. Next in line is Carlos Alcaraz, who holds firm with 7510 points. Like his German counterpart, Daniil Medvedev suffered an elimination in the last 8 of the Qatar Open. He went out due to an injury but is closing in on the top 5 again. The rankings saw the inclusion of Andrey Rubley within the top 10.
Rubley won the Qatar Open and as a result climbed to the 9th spot in the rankings from 10th.
Now all eyes would be on the Indian Wells tournament as it could enforce a major shake-up in the rankings. The Indian Wells tournament will begin on March 2, 2025. All the big names- Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, etc- will feature at the event. Thus, will all to look forward let's wait and witness what transpires in the next ATP competition.
