Indian women’s cricket team players continue to make history, and it seems like they are not stopping anytime soon. This time, it's Smriti Mandhana who scripted history on Tuesday by becoming the first woman in cricket to amass 11,000 runs across all international formats.
The milestone arrived during the women’s cricket final of the Asian Games 2026 against Sri Lanka in Japan as India eyes the gold medal. Mandhana, needing just a handful of runs at the start of her innings, produced a blistering 79 off 45 balls that included five fours and seven sixes.

Mandhana’s aggressive knock helped India post a commanding total and underlined her status as the game’s premier batter. Earlier this month, she had already overtaken former India captain Mithali Raj to become the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket.
The left-hander now sits clear at the top of the all-time list and also holds the record for the most international centuries. The 30-year-old continues to dominate across formats. She is the leading run-getter in women’s T20Is and remains a central figure in India’s batting line-up.
The 11,000-run landmark adds another chapter to a career already filled with records and consistent excellence. India is playing Sri Lanka, a repeat of the Asia Cup final, in the gold medal match at the Asian Games. The Women in Blue beat Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup to win their record-extending eighth title.
