India has returned to the Top 10 in the medal tally of the ongoing Asian Games in Japan. The country enjoyed a strong Day 11 at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, claiming two gold medals that lifted it two positions up in the medal standings.
Shooter Neeru Dhanda delivered India’s fifth gold of the Games and the nation’s first individual women’s trap title. The Haryana athlete set an Asian record with 28 hits out of 30 in the final, following a team silver earlier in the day alongside Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer.

Later, the women’s 4x400m relay team secured India’s first athletics gold of the Games, clocking 3:29.69 to finish ahead of Bahrain and China. The victory marked a significant milestone for Indian track and field at the event.
Meanwhile, the additional medals included a bronze for Gulveer Singh in the men’s 5000m. It was his third of the edition as he completed a treble. Further bronzes in the high jump and relay events. These results took India’s overall tally to six gold, 21 silver and 26 bronze medals for a total of 53, placing the contingent 10th.
China continues to dominate the table with 143 gold medals and 254 in total, followed by hosts Japan and South Korea. Uzbekistan stands in fourth position, while Thailand is in the top 5 of the competition, which runs until October 4.
