The Fencing Association of India (FAI) has decided to award the winners a massive amount of cash prize. They have announced cash awards for Indian athletes who medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Gold medallists will receive Rs 10 lakh, silver medallists Rs 7.5 lakh, and bronze medallists Rs 5 lakh.

FAI Secretary General Rajeev Mehta said the prizes recognise the athletes’ hard work and are intended to motivate them further. He said:
“Our fencers have worked extremely hard to represent India at the Asian Games. This cash prize is a small recognition of their dedication and commitment.”
He added:
“We hope it will further motivate our athletes to compete with confidence, pride and determination and bring glory to the nation.”
Olympian Bhavani Devi will lead India’s 20-member fencing squad. India has never won a fencing medal at the Asian Games and will begin its campaign this week in individual and team events. The incentives come as the country looks to convert recent progress in the sport highlighted by Bhavani Devi’s international performances into its first continental multi-sport medal in fencing.
Meanwhile, the country is set to begin its fencing campaign on Wednesday. While Sachin and Hemash Singh Sanasam will compete in the men's foil, Mitva Chaudhari and Taniksha Khatri will feature in the women's epee.
