Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge are among the top MLB stars expected to take home major accolades this week, with the 2024 Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) awards set to be revealed. The winners of the four prestigious awards — Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, Cy Young, and MVP — for both the American League (AL) and National League (NL) will be announced over four evenings, starting on Monday.
Ohtani, following his historic 5050 season, is widely anticipated to claim his third MVP award, capping an extraordinary year. Meanwhile, Judge, who smashed a leaguehigh 58 home runs, is poised to secure his second AL MVP title.
Though the MVP races seem all but decided, the other categories remain much more uncertain. The NL Rookie of the Year race is neckandneck between electric pitcher Paul Skenes and versatile infielder Jackson Merrill. Additionally, the NL Cy Young race is a tight contest between Atlanta's Chris Sale and Philadelphia's Zack Wheeler.
