Story Highlights:

LaMelo Ball expected to play despite a lingering wrist sprain.

Brandon Miller, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and Tre Mann remain uncertain as injuries continue to thin Charlotte’s rotation.

Charlotte Hornets head into Friday night facing more uncertainty as a long list of injuries continues to shadow their season. With the team sitting at 6–16 and coming off a road loss to the New York Knicks, their availability concerns take center stage once again ahead of their matchup against the Toronto Raptors.

LaMelo Ball expected to play despite wrist issue

The Hornets received a positive sign with LaMelo Ball listed as probable. The star guard is dealing with a left wrist sprain but is expected to suit up. Ball was a standout in the loss to New York, finishing with 34 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists — a performance that underscored how heavily Charlotte relies on his playmaking and scoring influence.

With Charlotte attempting to avoid further slippage in the Eastern Conference standings, his presence remains crucial.

Brandon Miller’s status still uncertain

Rookie standout Brandon Miller’s availability remains in question. Miller is questionable with a left shoulder injury that has already sidelined him for the last two games. His potential absence creates a significant scoring and defensive gap for a team already short on depth.

If Miller sits again, Sion James becomes one of the likely beneficiaries in terms of minutes and offensive responsibility. That need is amplified as Collin Sexton has already been ruled out due to a left quad strain, removing another key rotational piece.

Additional injuries limit Charlotte’s rotation

The Hornets’ injury list stretches beyond their stars. Center Ryan Kalkbrenner is questionable with a left ankle contusion, while Tre Mann is also questionable due to right knee soreness. The uncertainty around both adds pressure to Charlotte’s rotation, particularly in terms of ball-handling and rim protection.

Charlotte will also remain without Pat Connaughton, Josh Green, and Grant Williams, all of whom continue recovery from their respective injuries and have been ruled out for the contest.

Hornets look to stabilize amid setbacks

With several key pieces potentially missing, Charlotte faces an uphill challenge against a Raptors team playing its second game in as many nights. While Ball’s expected return offers hope, the Hornets’ overall depth remains severely tested as they attempt to claw their way toward more consistent results.
