More than just clicking pictures and signing autographs, Kyrie Irving showcased his skill as a hooper. Irving and his father took part in a pick-up game, and Drederick even made a game-winning shot.

 

In a video posted by ANTA on their Instagram handle, Kyrie is seen feeding his father the ball in the post. As he received the pass, Drederick spun towards the hoop and hit a game-winning layup.

During the pickup games, Irving gave a sneak peek of the latest ANTA designs. His fans have already had a clear look at the ANTA Kai 1 and new Hela-style shoes.

 

Ended his ties with Nike: Kyrie Irving

 

Early on in his career, Irving was signed by Nike but the brand cut ties with him back in December 2022. It was till last summer that Irving signed a contract with ANTA to become their brand ambassador and chief creative officer.

In the world of sports, major top-class brands sign world-class athletes for shoe deals but Kyrie Irving did something out of the box. According to a report from the Athletic, Kyrie signed his father to a signature shoe deal. The report stated that it was the first time a professional National Basketball Association (NBA) player signed their dad to such kind of a deal.

 

Drederick Irving’s career at Boston University

 

Drederick Irving could never manage to play in the NBA but his performances for Boston University stood out. He played 122 games from 1984 to 1988. During his college career, he averaged 15.8 points and had 2.0 assists every game.

 

Drederick was considered one of the elites in the history of his university and his jersey was even retired once he graduated from the college. His best season was his senior year when he averaged 19.9 points on 48.2% shooting from the field and 43.2% from behind the three-point line.

 

He even tried for the Celtics but never made the team. He never got his chance to play in the NBA but played professionally in Australia. During that time, Kyrie Irving was born.
