Steve Kerr emphasizes caution as injuries continue to affect Golden State’s lineup.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has provided a discouraging update on superstar Steph Curry’s health ahead of their upcoming matchup against the Denver Nuggets, confirming that the two-time MVP will not be traveling with the team.

Steph Curry officially ruled out of Nuggets matchup

Speaking on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard and Dibs,” Kerr revealed that Curry remains sidelined due to worsening flu-like symptoms. “Barring some unforeseen last-second change, he’s not going to be on the team flight to Denver,” Kerr said.

This will mark the second consecutive game the four-time NBA champion has missed this season as he continues to recover. Steph Curry initially experienced symptoms following Tuesday’s victory over the Phoenix Suns, later admitting his energy level was “on E” during the closing moments of the game.

Steve Kerr prioritizing caution over quick return

The Warriors’ coach emphasized that the team is taking a cautious approach regarding Curry’s health. “[Curry] said his symptoms got worse,” Kerr told reporters prior to Wednesday’s 121-116 loss to the Sacramento Kings. “He texted back that things got worse overnight, but he’s resting today at home and hopeful that, within the next couple of days, he’ll be alright.”

Steve Kerr’s remarks suggest the franchise is not willing to risk its star player’s long-term health, especially with the season still in its early stages. The decision to rest Steph Curry also takes into account Denver’s challenging high-altitude environment — 5,280 feet above sea level — which could further test his stamina and recovery.

Warriors face mounting injury challenges

Curry’s absence adds to Golden State’s growing list of concerns. Jimmy Butler III (back spasms) was forced to leave Tuesday’s game early and sat out the following night, while Draymond Green missed Wednesday’s contest with a rib injury. The combination of these setbacks has disrupted the team’s rhythm and consistency on both ends of the floor.

Despite starting the season strong with a 4-1 record, the Warriors have struggled recently as they cope with health issues. While role players such as Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski have stepped up, the team’s offensive flow has suffered without Curry’s leadership and playmaking.

Curry’s production took a hit before illness

Before being sidelined, Steph Curry was averaging 26.8 points per game across eight starts, continuing to serve as the offensive engine for Golden State. However, the effects of his illness were evident in his last two appearances, where his shooting percentage dipped below 40%, a significant drop from his early-season efficiency.
