Luka Doncic plans to retire with Real Madrid but is preparing for his first full season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Luka Doncic's trade left the NBA surprised, Bill Simons thinks that the Los Angeles Clippers signing Kawhi Leonard may be an even more damaging decision.

Over the past few weeks, various rumors have continued to come to light, kudos to investigation reporting from Pablo Torre. While the NBA is investigating the matter, Simon believes that Leonard's time with the Clippers has been an unmitigated disaster, in fact, so much so that it has to be one of the worst decisions.

During Thursday's episode of his show, Simmons talked about the situation, reminding fans what the Clippers had to give up in order to clear out cap space for the Kawhi Leonard-Paul George era. Simmons said:

"The entire thing of going into business with [Leonard], all the stuff it cost them, all the players and the draft picks, plus this scandal. It has to be the most damaging transaction in the history of the league. I don't even think you could compare it to anything. It's already retroactively one of the worst trades of all time."

As Simmons mentioned, in the case of the Luka Doncic trade, at least the Mavericks wound up with Anthony Davis and Cooper Flagg.

In the situation of the Clippers, the team is reportedly done building around the two-time NBA champ.

Luka Doncic wants to end his basketball career with this team

Lakers’ new addition, Doncic, has stated that he would consider returning to the Real Madrid basketball team and that is the franchise where he would like to retire. In a recent interview with Jason Gay of The Wall Street Journal, the Slovenian revealed that he hung up his boots in Madrid and said:

"To play with Real Madrid, you have to be so good."

Doncic further, about ending his career with the Spanish powerhouse:

"For sure. They raised me."

Doncic was already a star at Real Madrid and known for his amazing skills before he became a household name in the NBA. Simply put, in his own words, the EuroLeague side raised him as he joined their youth academy when he was just 23 and made his senior debut at 16. The player has attained an emotional affection for the team which is understandable.

Meanwhile, keeping the retirement plans aside since he still has a lot of time left, Doncic is gearing up for his first full season with the Lakers. The player has already bought a new house in Los Angeles, which previously belonged to tennis star Maria Sharapova; the point guard has finally cemented himself in LA.
