DeWanna Bonner to miss clash against New York Liberty

The 37-year-old guard veteran will be missing the Saturday's clash against the Liberty. Bonner is on a one-year contract worth a whopping $200,000. She is the only player that sees her name on the team's injury report as she is missing the clash due to personal reasons.

Bonner last featured in Tuesday's clash against Atlanta Dream, that ended in a 77-58 thumping for the Fever. She clocked 20 minutes on the broad along with five points, two rebounds and two assists. Since then, she has been missing the team activities which include two practices on the trot.

Ahead of Saturday's clash, head coach Stephanie White spoke on Bonner's status on Friday. She confirmed that the guard will be missing from the encounter. While she didn't disclose the real reason behind Bonner's absence, she emphasized that the team is fully behind her and stands by her side.

I think she's doing as well as she can be right now, White told reporters. We're going to continue to support her and give her the time that she needs. I don't anticipate her being here (Saturday), and just with her right now, it's supporting her and giving her what she needs.

DeWanna Bonner has had a tough start to the ongoing WNBA season for Indiana Fever. After seeing her name in the starting lineup, she was eventually moved to a bench role. In the nine games that she had played, Bonner clocked 21.4 minutes per game along with 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals.
