Story Highlights:

Dell Curry played for 16 years in NBA from 1984 to 2002.

Stephen Curry has equaled the tally of 16 years and will look to feature in his 17th season in 2025-26 campaign.

Stephen Curry's father, Dell Curry shuts down rumors of his son's retirement. Not just this, he even went on to say that the Golden State Warriors superstar wants to win another title while playing in the NBA.

What did Dell Curry say about Stephen Curry's retirement?

During an interview with RG's DJ Siddiqi on Monday, Dell Curry revealed that his son is far away from retirement as he still has plenty left in his tank.

He still loves the game, Curry said. He’s a competitive guy. He wants to win another title, so we’re not even close to that window yet. But when the time comes, I think he’ll make the right decision.

Not just this, Dell believes that his son still could made a difference on the court even though he is not getting any younger. It's because of his playstyle that Dell thinks he could have an impact in certain games.

Absolutely, just because he can shoot the basketball, and he’s going to require attention, Curry added. Even if you put him in the corner at 40, 41 years old, you have to guard him. That means that he’s creating space for other guys around him.

If you can shoot the basketball, there’s a team that can use you in today’s NBA. But if you’re Steph Curry, I think you’re going to be able to play until you say, 'I’m done.'

During the course of last season, Stephen Curry was the 12th active oldest player to have featured in the league. He played a total of 70 regular season games in which he averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds on 44.8% shooting, including 39.7% from 3-point range. Apart from this, Curry managed to register his second best free-throw clip of his career (93.3%).

Stephen Curry alongside Jimmy Butler, led the charge for Golden State Warriors resurgence during the second half of the season. But, Curry's injury forced him to miss the last four games in the playoffs as the franchise exited in the second round as they were defeated by Minnesota Timberwolves.

Dell Curry has nothing but praise for his son Stephen Curry

Dell Curry also played in the NBA when he was young as he featured for 16 seasons from 1986 until 2002. His son, Stephen Curry equaled that tally and now looks to feature in his 17th season in the league for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. During the same interview with DJ Siddiqi, Dell Curry had nothing but praise for his son's longevity.

I continue to be impressed with the way Steph is playing at a high level. All-Star level at this stage is great, Curry said.

Dell Curry feels that his son's motivation is fueled by his dedication, discipline and his work ethic, which has played an important role throughout his career.

Those are things that make him the player that he is, because of his dedication and discipline in the offseason to want to get better and not cheat the game, Curry said. That’s the player that he can always be. He wants to continue to be that player. It’s amazing that he’s 37 and he’s still playing at this level.

During the last season, Stephen Curry was named an All-Star for the 11th time in his illustrious career. He was also named to the All-NBA second team, which was again his 11th career All-NBA selection.
