Giannis Antetokounmpo joined a club of all-time greats after the Milwaukee Bucks' win against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, November 30.
Big feat for Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis became the sixth-youngest player to reach 21,000 points, just behind LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and Michael Jordan.
Antetokounmpo went to Instagram to share his reaction to the historic feat, posting two emojis to sum up his feelings.
Giannis, who was 30 years and 358 days old during the game, scored 29 points, and eight rebounds in the Bucks' 116-99 win against the Nets. It snapped the Bucks' seven-game losing streak and improved their record to 9-12 in the Eastern Conference.
The Greek Freak only amassed 19 points, shooting 12-of-15 from the field. He reached the 21,000 mark when he hit a triple in the third quarter en route to the Bucks' win.
Giannis Antetokounmpo's carry job
This year, Giannis has carried the team on his shoulders, averaging 31.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game.
Giannis currently stands at the 42nd spot in the NA all-time scoring list with 21,002 points.
Giannis Antetokounmpo takes a dig at teammates after early-season slump
Giannis Antetokounmpo called his teammates to step up and perform well after their seventh consecutive defeat. The Bucks star urged for a change in mindset for the rest of the season.
"Can I make an excuse that we've played a lot of games and guys are tired and it's a huge load on people? Yeah," he said. "Can I also make an excuse that's human nature when (Kevin Porter Jr.) goes down and myself goes down, it's human nature to think that you got to carry a load. ... Maybe it's a scoring load, maybe you got to make plays, maybe you think it is your opportunity to get more shots. But that's not how you win games. That's not how you build culture."
This comes after he returned after missing for games because of a groin injury.
"At the end of the day, you got to come in, do your job, do what you're paid to do, defend ... do the little things. And sometimes, when you worry about doing the little things, all the other things add up. If you're so concerned about scoring the ball and get yourself going offensively and that doesn't work for you, now you feel like you cannot do nothing."
The Bucks will aim to continue their campaign against the Washington Wizards on Monday.
