The Golden State Warriors celebrated their second consecutive win against the Washington Wizards in the National Basketball Association (NBA) at the Chase Center on 18th January, but the victory was marred by injury concerns surrounding two of their key players, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Stephen Curry’s injury update

While the Warriors managed to get the desired result, the victory came at a cost with Curry suffering an injury that left fans and team officials worried.

Head coach Steve Kerr addressed the situation in his post-game press conference, providing an update on the superstar’s condition. Curry, who is no stranger to injury troubles, appeared to be concerned but remained hopeful about the severity of his ankle injury.

According to Kerr, Curry told him that he didn’t believe the injury was serious. The incident occurred near the end of a play when Jordan Poole was on the floor with Curry standing behind him. In the video, Poole can be seen briefly grabbing Curry's right ankle with his arm, holding it for a moment before Curry fell to the ground in pain. While the sequence raised questions regarding Poole’s intentions, it appeared to be a sneaky move, as the referee was out of position to see the hold.

Curry was immediately seen lying on the court, face down, in apparent discomfort. Given his history of ankle problems, the situation initially raised alarms, but Kerr was quick to reassure the media. "Steph just told me he doesn’t think it’s serious," Kerr said, attempting to ease concerns.

A serious injury to Curry's ankle would be a nightmare for the Warriors, given his history of ankle troubles early in his career. However, his use of the Zamst A2-DX ankle brace has helped manage the issue in recent years, providing stability and protection during games.

Draymond Green’s calf injury

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Curry wasn’t the only player to suffer an injury. Draymond Green, the team’s veteran forward, also had to leave the game after just three minutes due to what appeared to be a calf injury. In the first quarter, Green was seen limping off the court, and after consulting with the team’s director of sports medicine, Rick Celebrini, he was quickly taken to the locker room.

Kerr confirmed that Green would undergo an MRI the following day. "Draymond is going to get an MRI tomorrow," Kerr said. "We don’t really know, so we will have to wait and see what the MRI shows tomorrow. Just kind of assess him in the next couple of days and then we’ll figure out what’s next."

Kerr mentioned that both Curry and Green would be evaluated on a day-to-day basis moving forward, leaving uncertainty about their status for the Warriors' upcoming games.
