Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is set to miss some time after suffering an ankle injury during the home opener against the LA Clippers. In the loss, Curry initially left the game due to the injury but returned briefly before aggravating it and exiting for good. Warriors lost to Clipper by 112-104.
What is Stephen Curry's Injury?
Curry is dealing with a sprained left ankle and will undergo an MRI to assess the severity of the injury. The issue arose in the third quarter when he planted his foot while navigating around screens. He aggravated it early in the fourth quarter while attempting to set a back screen for teammate Moses Moody.
At 36 years old, Curry has had a history of ankle injuries, particularly in the early part of his career. Although he has significantly reduced these issues by wearing ankle braces, they couldn't prevent this latest setback. In the game, he finished with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting, along with six assists, four rebounds, two steals, and six turnovers in 27 minutes.
How Long is Stephen Curry Out?
According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, "It appears likely" that Curry will miss some games due to this ankle injury. The length of his absence will depend on the injury's classification and his response to treatment. The Warriors are scheduled to play three games within the next six days, including a back-to-back against the Pelicans on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Curry rolled his ankle in the third quarter while navigating around teammates and had to limp to the bench. Though he returned in the fourth quarter, he aggravated the injury again, leading him to leave the game for the final time with around eight minutes remaining. Kerr mentioned uncertainty about who would step up in Curry's absence but highlighted guard Andrew Wiggins as a potential player who could see more touches, noting Wiggins scored 29 points in the game against the Clippers.
The Warriors, currently sitting at 2-1, will host the New Orleans Pelicans (also 2-1) at 10 p.m. EDT on Tuesday in San Francisco.
