Story Highlights:

Jabari Smith Jr.’s knee injury puts his availability in doubt after a heavy 43-minute outing vs Orlando.

VanVleet, Finney-Smith and Eason continue to sit out long-term as Houston chases a top-three Western Conference spot.

The Houston Rockets will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in an inter conference regular-season clash on Wednesday. Houston's three pivotal rotation players were ruled out of the game again, while a big issue came up on the health of Jabari Smith Jr.

Latest update on Jabari Smith Jr.

Jabari Smith Jr. is placed as "questionable" on the team's injury report because of a knee injury. He appeared during the Rockets' 117-113 win against the Orlando Magic on Sunday. The 6-foot-11 forward shouldered a heavy workload and played for 43 minutes against the Magic. He registered 10 points, 10 rebounds, one steal and one block, while shooting 4-of-9 from the floor.

In case Jabari Smith's status gets downgraded before tip off, Steve Adams could get a chance to start. In 13 games, Adams is averaging 22 minutes and has been in the starting lineup twice.

Latest update on Fred VanVleet, Dorian Finney-Smith and Tari Eason

Fred VanVleet, Dorian Finney-Smith and Tari Eason will stay on the sidelines. VanVleet is recovering from an ACL injury, and is expected to stay ruled out for months. Finney-Smith (ankle surgery) and Eason (strained oblique) are ruled out for multiple weeks.

Even after the injury setbacks, the Rockets could capture the third place in the Western Conference standings with a 9-3 record. The Houston-based side has registered nine wins in the last 10 games, while currently going through a four-game win streak.
