LeBron James, who missed the entire training camp and the first month of the ongoing NBA 2025-26 season, is injured again. The 40-year-old missed the Los Angeles Lakers’ most recent fixture when JJ Redick’s side faced the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers are set to host the Phoenix Suns next, and fans are curious if the superstar player will be available for the game. Let us have a look.
Is LeBron James playing in Lakers vs Suns NBA 2025-26 game?
LeBron James won't be available for the Lakers' game against the Suns on December 1, 2025.
According to a report by Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, who is also James' longtime friend and agent, he told ESPN that it was his preference for James not to play in back-to-backs. It is to preserve his body and be cautious with the forward who has just returned from an injury.
James was left out of the Lakers vs the Pelicans games with a left foot injury. This has raised questions about his availability and long-term health. Head coach JJ Redick also outlined a cautious strategy to not rush with the NBA icon and protect him for his record 23rd season. James was earlier out for the entire pre-season and 14 regular-season games following sciatica.
James’ new injury is different from the previous injury and needs a careful recovery. According to the Lakers' boss, “the plan is to get James to the point where he can play in back to backs.” Hence, the Olympic gold medalist player would be given enough rest while his minutes will be limited until he is 100% fit.
