Anthony Edwards suffered an injury during Game 1 of the Minnesota Timberwolves' playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, 20th May. It appears that the star player twisted his ankle during a drive late in the first quarter. He then headed straight towards the locker room during the first break between the first and second periods.

What exactly happened to Anthony Edwards?

Before sustaining his latest injury, Edwards played for 12 minutes of the opening quarter as he led the charge for the Timberwolves. He added seven points on 2 of 3 shooting, including 1 of 1 from beyond the arc. Not just this, he even added three rebounds and one block. Edwards returned from the locker room at the 7:01 mark in the second quarter. He only missed five minutes of the game time during this span.

After returning to the court, Anthony Edwards didn't look like 100% as he lacked the energy and explosiveness in his game. In the final quarter of the game, Edwards was fully neutralized by the Thunder defense.

Due to this, OKC Thunder took full advantage and dominated the Timberwolves on both ends of the floor. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a bomb second half as he led the OKC Thunder to a commanding 114-88 victory.

Anthony Edwards, who managed to score seven points in the first quarter, only scored 11 more points in the final three quarters. Him being not at his fully best made things easy for the OKC Thunder as they now have a 1-0 lead in the seven game series.

Anthony Edwards has been one of the consistent players for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He featured in 79 regular season games in this year's campaign. In those 79 matches, he averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

The next encounter between Minnesota Timberwolves vs Oklahoma City Thunder will now be played on 22nd May. The match will be played at the Paycom Center, home to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The tip-off time for Game 2 is 8:30 pm ET.
