During the fourth quarter of the Philadelphia 76ers home game against Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, 16th October, the rookie Jared McCain took a nasty fall and hit his head while going for a second-chance bucket. It immediately came to the notice of the referee Bill Kennedy as he blew his whistle to provide the 76ers with a medical timeout.

What did NBA insider Chris Haynes's report say about Jared McCain's injury status?

After the game against the Nets, 76ers coach Nick Nurse told media members that McCain was at the hospital and was having some trouble with breathing. On 17th October, Thursday, National Basketball Association (NBA) insider Chris Haynes provided an update on the rookie's health status and mentioned that he is resting at his home.

He further shed light on the matter and said that McCain had experienced 'pulmonary contusions' and would have a concussion test later in the day. From the looks of the update provided by Haynes, it appears that McCain has avoided any kind of serious injury.

But, it is still unclear for how long Jared McCain will be sidelined. The Philadelphia 76ers will play their next game on Friday, 18th October before starting the regular season with a home game against Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, 24 October.

Jared McCain will spend time in the G League

Leading up to his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Jared McCain was able to impress both fans and teammates. It was during the training camps that McCain made an impression on his teammates and earned high praises from Joel Embiid and Eric Gordon.

While talking to the media members earlier this month, former MVP Joel Embiid said that by far the team's best player has been Jared McCain. He even left his impression on Eric Gordon as well. Gordon was quoted by 76ers writer Lauren Rosen as saying, "He can play. Without a doubt. I would say he’s going to have a good, long career.”

Even though McCain averaged 12.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game during the preseason, Nick Nurse wants the rookie to spend time in the G League. While talking to the media members earlier this month, Nurse said to NBC Sports Philly, "There’s a lot of guys. … I think he’s McCain gonna get a chance, I think he’s gonna spend some time in the G League. … We’ll see what happens. … I really like him and Bona.”
