Story Highlights:

Pistons tie their longest streak since 2004, with Isiah Thomas celebrating the team’s resurgence.

Cade Cunningham warns the group to stay sharp after nearly blowing a 19-point lead vs the Pacers.

The Detroit Pistons' 13-game win streak is closing to historic heights. After facing 116-95 to Cleveland at home on October 28, the team has secured wins in every game since. After a 122-117 win vs Pacers on Monday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, They have equalled the longest winning streak the team has had since the 2004 championship team.

Pistons legend Isiah Thomas, who knows what the winning championship feels like, sent the team a message of support.

“Let it be known 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” he wrote in reply to the Pistons’ Instagram post celebrating the major milestone.

The iconic point guard led the Pistons to their first NBA Championship in the 1989-90 season. Notably, Thomas also played a pivotal role in Detroit's 13-game winning streak that season.

As of now, Cade Cunningham's side has equalled the historic 13-game feat, but the All-Star guard still has a long path to follow until winning the big prize.

For the first time in many years, there is a feeling of optimism in Detroit. A win on Wednesday against the Boston Celtics would only extend their streak, but could also enter them into franchise history books with a new record.

Cade Cunningham makes honest admission on Piston's struggles despite winning streak

The Detroit Pistons' ascent to the top of the Eastern conference is the season's most unexpected story, but Cade Cunningham was not fully happy with the team's performance against the Pacers and issued warning that they are not out of the woods yet.

Cunningham claimed that the win was nowhere near the standard they've set recently, as they nearly lost a 19-point lead.

“It’s not like I’ve been saying, ‘I need to get the best winning streak in Pistons history.’ None of us have been thinking like that,” he said. “We just want to be the best version of ourselves, and tonight was not the best version of us. So I’m not happy about that.”

Cunningham had a team-high 24 points, but was harassed into 8-for-18 shooting. He also committed three turnovers.

The fact that the Pistons are ahead of the chasing pack following something few could have expected, yet Cunningham does not seem to get distracted. If they want to fight for a championship, the mistakes need to be few to none.
