The Sacramento Kings will go head to head against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, March 19 at the Golden 1 Center. All eyes would be on Domantas Sabonis, whether he starts against the Kings or not.
Will star player Domantas Sabonis play against Cleveland Cavaliers?
The Kings announced on Tuesday that Domantas Sabonis is expected to miss at least 10 more days after suffering an ankle sprain. He made his return to the court against Memphis Grizzlies on March 17 after six games as he was recovering from a hamstring injury. After just featuring for 12 minutes on the court, he has to exit the game after picking up an injury in the third quarter.
As per the Kings, Sabonis will be re-evaluated in 10 days. Depending on how his ankle heals, it suggest that he might be out for longer. If he doesn't recover on time, he might miss out on several accolades. He has been the best big men in the league after registering 19.2 points, 13.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game.
He is a serious contender to be selected in the All-NBA team but for that to happen, he needs to feature in at least 65 games. So far this season, the 28-year-old has played 58 games and he might miss next six games as he recovers from his ankle sprain.
If he returns to the court in 10 days, then he will start all of the remaining games for Kings, which will then make him eligible for the season ending awards. Sabonis is a three-time All-Star and has been selected to the All-NBA Third Team twice. The Kings desperately need the services of Sabonis to close out their season. The Kings are currently ninth in the Western Conference and are fighting to hold on to their play-in tournament spot.
Domantas Sabonis and his wife Shashana initiative for California Wildfire victims
Domantas Sabonis took to his X account (formerly known as Twitter) on March 17 to announce a new on-court initiative by him and wife. Their initiative will look to raise awareness and money for the families which were affected by the California Wildfires.
The Sabonis Family will donate $2,500 for every rebound that Domantas grabs at every Sacramento Kings home game beginning on March 17. The challenge will continue until he grabs 40 rebounds for a total donation of $100K, Sabonis posted on his X account.
Unfortunately, Sabonis picked up an injury just before he could raise money for his new on-court initiative.
