Curry has been a sensational current generation player.

NBA star Stephen Curry has made it clear how he feels about Michael Jordan’s 2019 comments regarding his potential induction into the Hall of Fame. Curry, now 36, has been with the Golden State Warriors since 2009 and is widely recognized as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. With four NBA championships and two MVP titles to his name, Curry’s career has solidified his place among the league's best.

Michael Jordan’s 2019 Comments on Curry’s Hall of Fame Worthiness

Back in 2019, Jordan, 61, weighed in on whether Curry’s career earned him a spot in the Hall of Fame. Speaking to NBC’s Craig Melvin, Jordan acknowledged Curry as a "great player," but stated, “Not a Hall of Famer yet, though.”

Jordan, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 alongside fellow legends like John Stockton, David Robinson, and Jerry Sloan, has six NBA championships, two more than Curry’s current tally. Despite Curry’s success, including his fourth NBA title in 2022, Jordan’s comment still lingered in the conversation.

 Curry’s Response to Jordan's Critique

Curry’s response to Jordan’s comments came during an interview with Matt Welty for Sole Collector. He was candid about how he feels about the criticism but remained humble about his ongoing journey.

“I think I’m good, but then I’m never complacent,” Curry stated. “I know I have more to prove to myself. When you hear a guy like that, who’s the greatest of all time, it’s kind of funny.”

While Curry appreciated Jordan’s legendary status, he noted the broader context of the debate. “Since we’ve been on this stage, we’ve heard a lot of retired guys chiming in on this generation of basketball players and evaluating talent and saying their generation was better and all that,” Curry explained.

He also added, “It’s a great conversation for the fans to get in on. I know I’m in good shape for that, but I still have a lot to prove to myself.”

 Achievements Since Jordan's Comments

Since Jordan’s 2019 comments, Curry has continued to elevate his legacy. In 2022, he led the Warriors to a fourth NBA championship, further cementing his status as one of the game's all-time greats. More recently, Curry contributed to the USA team’s gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With these accomplishments, Curry’s Hall of Fame case grows stronger each year.

Despite the criticisms from Jordan, Curry’s focus remains on personal growth and continuing to prove himself both on and off the court.
