During a memorable night at the Footprint Center, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant not only made history by becoming the eighth player in NBA history to score 29,000 career points, but he also created a viral moment that left fans buzzing.  Despite a stellar performance from Luka Doncic, who scored 40 points for the Dallas Mavericks, the Suns secured a 114-102 victory, largely thanks to Durant's commanding presence.

One of the standout moments came when Doncic found himself defending Durant, who seized the opportunity to drive to the basket and deliver a powerful dunk. As he returned to the other side of the court, Durant playfully taunted Doncic with a “too small” gesture, which he animatedly expressed with his lips and fingers. Known for his skill in trash talk, Durant's lighthearted jab was a highlight amid his impressive performance, where he recorded 31 points and nine rebounds.

After the game, Durant reflected on his milestone, expressing gratitude to those who supported him throughout his journey. “There have been a few milestones since I joined the Suns, and I always have to credit the people who have supported me since I was a kid. I’m just grateful to have such great people in my life who have pushed me and lifted me up when I needed encouragement.”

Durant achievement

In addition to Durant's achievement, Devin Booker contributed 21 points, while Jusuf Nurkic added 18 points and 14 rebounds to the mix. The Mavericks also had solid performances from Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson, who added 22 and 19 points, respectively. Durant's career stats reflect his remarkable journey: drafted in 2007, he has played in 1,064 games, averaging 27.3 points per game with a three-point shooting percentage of .387.

Now, Durant is gearing up for the next big challenge in the 2024-2025 NBA season as the Suns face the Los Angeles Lakers. After a tough loss in their second matchup of the season, Durant and his teammates are eager to bounce back and secure a win against their Western Conference rivals.

Kevin Durant recorded 31 points and nine rebounds to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 114-102 victory over the visiting Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night. Durant also became the eighth player in NBA history to top 29,000 career points. He finished the game with 29,010.
