Ahead of their high-voltage ODI World Cup clash against hosts India, Australia were hit with a major injury scare. Star leg-spinner Adam Zampa sustained an injury to his face during a routine swimming session when he collided with the pool wall. Zampa was swimming with his eyes closed and thought he was swimming in a straight line before getting hit by the wall. Australia captain Pat Cummins also gave an update on Zampa's injury and said that the leggie should be ready to feature in the match against India.

"He swam into the pool wall apparently, he said," Cummins said with a laugh.

"He had his eyes closed and thought he was swimming in a straight line and swam straight into the step of the pool.

"He’s all good, just a little bit sore, so had a pretty quiet week too," he added.

Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis continues to be a game-time decision as the all-rounder is racing against time to regain full fitness. In case Stoinis misses the game against India, it will be a huge blow for Australia.

"We'll announce a team tomorrow at the toss. Stoinis, yeah, still touch and go. He's going to have a run out soon, but probably up against it. He's got to jump through a few hoops. Yeah, we'll see," said Cummins.

Talking about the match between India and Australia, it will be the 13th meeting between the two cricketing powerhouses, and it's no surprise that the Baggy Greens have historically held an edge over the Men in Blue in ODI World Cups. The previous 12 meetings have seen Australia emerge victorious in eight matches while India came out on the better side of the result four times.

The 13th meeting between the two nations at the biggest of all stages promises to be a rip-roaring spectacle.

Australia: David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Alex Carey(w), Pat Cummins(c), Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Sean Abbott, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis
