Australia are set to take on England in their ODI World Cup clash on November 4

Australia have dealt with a major blow as their star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the big World Cup 2023 match against England which is slated to be held on November 4.

Apparently, Maxwell fell down from a golf cart and suffered a concussion following a head injury and is set to miss the Saturday's showdown.

However, it has been learnt that Maxwell is well on his way to recovery but it certainly comes across a body blow to Australia, who are sitting fourth in the World Cup's points table with four wins in seven matches.

“Maxwell was holding onto a golf cart on the way back from the club house to the team bus when he lost his grip. He is expected to be under concussion protocols for six to eight days” ESPN reported.

Recently, in the match against Netherlands, Maxwell clobbered the fastest century in the history of World Cup when he struck a lightning 44-ball 106. He also followed it up with a blistering 41 in the closely-fought match against New Zealand. Not just with the bat, Maxwell has also dazzled with the ball as he has four wickets against his name so far.

Marcus Stoinis or Cameron Green might be considered in Australia's Playing XI in Maxwell's absence with Marnus Labuschagne already in the scheme of things.

After kicking off the their World Cup campaign on a shaky note with two back-to-back defeats, five-time World champions Australia made a resounding comeback with four victories on the trot. If they manage to win at least two of the three remaining matches Australia will comfortably cruise into the World Cup 2023's semifinals..
