South African fast bowler Carmi le Roux was struck in the face by a powerful shot during a Major League Cricket match. The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 17, while Le Roux was bowling for the San Francisco Unicorns against the Seattle Orcas at Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina. The bowler had been bowling well, restricting the Seattle batters, when he was hit by a hard-driven shot from Ryan Rickelton.

Le Roux was struck by a full delivery that he bowled to Ryan Rickelton. The ball was hit straight back at the bowler with such force that Le Roux had no time to react. He was visibly in pain after the incident and was unable to continue bowling. Corey Anderson, the team captain, replaced Le Roux to complete the over.
Le Roux did not return to the field after being struck by the ball. He bowled 1.4 overs for 11 runs before leaving the game. However, his absence did not significantly impact the match, as the San Francisco Unicorns bowlers delivered a strong performance. Liam Plunkett was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 26 runs. Matthew Short, Corey Anderson, and Pat Cummins each claimed a wicket as the Unicorns restricted Seattle Orcas to 142/6, winning the match by 23 runs. Shehan Jayasuriya was the only Seattle batter to show resistance, scoring 54 runs off 37 balls. Ryan Rickelton contributed 29 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled.
San Francisco Unicorns captain Corey Anderson praised his team's strong finish after their win over Seattle Orcas. In the post-match presentation, Anderson highlighted the contributions of young Krishnamurthi and Pat Cummins. He credited their performances as crucial to the team's victory.
“Pretty good result. The boys did a great job in the back end of the batting innings and then came out strong with the ball. (On Krishnamurthi) He's a young kid who's got so much talent. Huge pluses for him today. It was a pretty big innings in the context of the game. 20 odds in a game like this is huge,” he said.
"(On Cummins )He is a world-class player, just having him in the group speaking cricket calms the group. Great for the balance of the team as well. We want to try and win every game, we go back to Dallas and we want to reassess quickly and hopefully, we can get a bit of momentum out of this one," he concluded.
