Amit Mishra's comments in a recent interview created controversy.

Mohammed Shami bashed media organisations for spreading false information.

India's star placer Mohammed Shami has hit back at media organisations carrying reports of him taking a dig at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Amit Mishra for his controversial comments on Virat Kohli. Shami wants media organisations to stop spreading false information and requested them to verify news before publishing.

Shami and Mishra recently gave interviews on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube show. As per a few of these false reports Shami took a dig at cricketers who use Virat Kohli’ name for limelight.

"Many former cricketers know that whenever they say something against Virat, their name will appear on the front page of the newspapers the next day, so they do it deliberately," the reports quoted Shami as saying.

On July 20, Shami took to his X handle and expressed his disappointment with a couple of screenshots where he was misquoted.

“Disappointed to see false information circulating about Amit Mishra. It's humble request to verify news sources before publishing,” Shami wrote on X.

Shami’s long absence

Shami recently started bowling in the nets. He is on road to recovery after the ankle injury ruled him out of action for months. He was the highest wicket-taker in ODI World Cup 2023 including three five-wicket hauls.

Shami vs Kohli in nets

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old revealed that he and Kohli used to challenge each other in the nets.

“Virat se to mera hamesha se rehta hai ki hum ek dusre ko challenge dete hain (with Virat, it’s always like we challenge each other). He likes to hit good shots, and I like to get him out. The bonding and the friendship reflects in that. It also helps you focus and put in the effort as you simulate (fielding positions), for example, two (imaginary) slips in place, two gully fielders. (So, I challenge Virat) to come at me and score runs. We enjoy such things,” said Shami.

On the other hand, he said that skipper Rohit Sharma did not like facing him.

“Rohit to pehle he kehta hai,’mai  isko khelna pasand nahi karta’. Woh to pehle hi mana kar deta hai (Rohit says I don’t like to face him; he refuses to bat against me),” he added.
