Former India speedster Sreesanth appealed Jasprit Bumrah to bowl the first over in the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 clash and finish Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the powerplay. He reckoned that if any of the Pakistani batter started attacking then it would be a tough match for India.
The T20 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place on June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
“It will be worth seeing who is putting the new ball. If Arshdeep bowl the first over who made him struggle, We have seen their weakness before. When they start attacking, if they don't stop the runs, they will knock out a lot of bowlers. I think if we don't get the wickets in the powerplay, the match between Pakistan and India will be very tough. I think on 9th June, India needs to pick a wicket in the first over” said Sreesanth on star sports.
Ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the pace attack of India in the marquee event. He recently featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 where he represented his franchise Mumbai Indians (MI). He picked up 20 wickets in 13 outings.
“I want Bumrah to come first and bowl the first over. We have heard that who will take the new ball, but I think if you are watching Bumrah, please finish Rizwan and Babar first” added Sreesanth.
India last faced Pakistan in the ODI World Cup where they outclassed Men in Green by seven wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
If we take a look at the T20 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan, both teams played seven T20 World Cup matches against each other where Pakistan won just a single game in the 2021 World Cup.
