The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are looking for India team's head coach because current coach Rahul Dravid's tenure will end after the upcoming T20 World Cup and Gautam Gambhir is making headlines regarding this post. Now, former India captain Sourav Ganguly backed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor to be the next coach for India. Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise KKR won their third IPL title under the mentorship of Gambhir after a gap of 10 years.
Speaking at the inauguration of the International Procurement and Supply Chain Conference, Ganguly opened up on T20 World Cup 2024 and also opined that Gambhir will be a good coach.
"I am in favour of an Indian coach. If he has applied, Gambhir will be a good coach," Ganguly said.
Ganguly also reckons that team India have a very good chance of winning the T20 World Cup 2024 and they have to play like a T20 team.
"India have very good chances in the World Cup. India will have to play like a T20 team. There is enormous talent," he said.
Team India have already reached USA for the marquee event which is scheduled to be start on June 2 and Rohit Sharma & Co. will play the warm-up match against Bangladesh before the tournament opener.
India will play their first T20 match against Ireland on June 5 in a newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
