Rishabh Pant's valiant 42 was a lone bright spot, while other Indian batsmen faltered against a fiery Pakistan pace attack led by Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah (three wickets each) and Mohammad Amir (two wickets). Pakistan, needing just 120 runs for victory, seemed to be cruising towards the finish line at 72-2 with Mohammad Rizwan (31) anchoring the chase. However, a shocking batting collapse saw them lose six wickets for only 40 runs in the final four overs. Jasprit Bumrah, the hero for India, delivered a match-winning spell of 4-13, derailing the Pakistani chase. Hardik Pandya chipped in with two wickets.

This dramatic six-run victory keeps India's Super 8s hopes alive, while Pakistan's playoff chances hang by a thread after their earlier upset loss to the USA.

Pakistan's Path to Super 8 Qualification

Win Both Remaining Matches: Pakistan absolutely needs victories in their upcoming matches against Canada and Ireland.
Hoping for USA losses: Pakistan's qualification hinges on USA losing their remaining games against India and Canada. This would create a scenario where both Pakistan and USA finish with 4 points.
The tiebreaker:

If both teams end up tied on points, the team with the superior Net Run Rate (NRR) will advance to the Super 8s.

A bitter loss:

This defeat is a source of immense disappointment for Pakistan. They were in a commanding position at 72-2 during their chase, but a series of errors led to a dramatic collapse.

India's comfortable position:

India, on the other hand, can secure their Super 8s spot by winning just one of their remaining two matches.

USA upsets can oust Pakistan:

However, things become bleak for Pakistan if USA manages to win even one of their remaining games. A victory for USA against either India or Ireland would eliminate Pakistan from the tournament.
