Veteran Australian opener David Warner has confirmed that his last international match on Australian soil was the third T20I against West Indies. Warner said that he will not represent Australia after the T20 World Cup 2024, emphasising the importance of the younger generation taking the spotlight and showcasing their skills.
Despite David Warner's superb performance, scoring 81 runs off just 49 balls, Australia couldn't secure a series sweep as West Indies won the third T20I by 37 runs.

Warner's retirement from T20Is follows his earlier departures from other formats; he retired from ODIs on January 1, 2024, and from Test cricket on January 6, 2024.
Warner has voiced contentment with his career and is prepared to hand over the reins to the next generation of cricketers. The experienced opener noted that following the series against New Zealand, he would take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before heading to the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean.

"It was good to have a break and play the franchise stuff. I've got a lot of time off after the New Zealand series, go to the IPL before we embark on a World Cup in the Caribbean. Was quite surprised an opening bowler at 145kph and swings it not trying to get me out. Go the Caribbean, the boundaries aren't too big there. I'm well and truly done, it's time for the youngsters to come through and show their talent," Warner said after winning the Player of the Series award.
Australia's campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 kicks off on June 6 against Oman, and Warner's role will be crucial for the team. Approaching the twilight of his remarkable career, Warner eagerly anticipates aiding Australia's triumph and possibly concluding his tenure as a global champion in multiple formats. He has already been part of the team that clinched the World Test Championship title and the ODI World Cup.
