Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson did not blame Kuldeep Sen for going for Atharva Taide's catch which almost led to a collision. Samson recalled instances from previous edition and said that he is happy that none of his teammates are running away from high catches, especially when hearing someone's call is tough in a stadium full of spectators.
“We had few funny instances from last year and this year. But I am really happy that everyone is eager to go and catch. I would be very sad if people are just staying away and not catching it. It gets a bit tough actually - the stadium is full of noise and when people call, we are looking at the ball, we can't look who is coming. I need to tell my fast bowlers that it's a bit easier to catch with the gloves instead of hands,” Samson said in the post-match presentation.
In the fourth over, Taide top-edged one off Avesh Khan. Sen who was at the short third-man went for the catch. Samson wanted to claim it but the pace bowler took the catch comfortably.
Samson also commented on the rivalry between the two teams and how it has led to close games over the years.
“Games against Punjab in the last 3-4 years, each and every game is very close, very funny feeling. They were bowling really well, it was a funny game,” he said.
Samson lauded Shimron Hetmyer who turned the game upside down in the slog overs despite a slow start and helped RR win by three wickets with one ball to spare.
“He has been doing it for years and years. Lots of experience, some composure and some confidence about his skills. He was won games many times. Rovman and Hetty - having them was good,” said the 29-year-old.
