The group stage of the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 concluded on January 28 (Sunday) with the competition now narrowing down to 12 teams that advanced into the Super Six phase. This next stage of the tournament features the top three teams from each of the four initial round-robin groups, with a unique structure for the upcoming matches.
In the Super Six, the teams from Groups A and D form one combined group, while those from Groups B and C form another. A key aspect of this phase is that each team carries forward the points and Net Run Rate (NRR) they accumulated against other Super Six qualifiers in their group.
Emerging from Groups A and D, the contenders include India, Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Nepal. Representing Groups B and C are South Africa, England, West Indies, Australia, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe. This lineup showcases a mix of cricketing powerhouses and rising teams, promising a highly competitive Super Six stage.
Meanwhile, the teams that did not advance to the Super Six – USA, Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland – will compete in play-offs to determine the tournament's final rankings.
In the Super Six round, each team will play two matches against teams from the corresponding group that finished in different positions in their respective groups. For instance, India, who topped Group A, will go up against New Zealand, who secured the second position in Group D, and Nepal, who finished third in the same group.
