The Indian and England cricket teams arrived in Dharamsala on March 3 for the final Test of the series. The fifth Test will be held at the scenic Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. The hosts have already clinched the series with a 3-1 lead against England.
The Indian team's practice session is scheduled for 9:30 am on March 4, while England's session will take place at 1:30 pm.
"Indian cricket team's practice session will be held at 9.30 am tomorrow. Meanwhile, the England cricket team's practice session will be held at 1.30 pm tomorrow," Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association's Vishal Sharma told PTI.
Vishal added that a few players are still en route and are expected to arrive on March 4 and March 5.
The report also suggests that Indian captain Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have not yet joined the team in Dharamsala.
Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid and prominent players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill also arrived in Dharamsala on the same day. Rajat Patidar, whose position in the lineup has been uncertain following his underperformance in Ranchi, also reached the city on March 3.
Indian aim to secure WTC points in final Test
New Zealand's defeat in the Wellington Test propelled India to the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings on March 3. With India, New Zealand, and Australia vying for the top position, Rohit and his team must secure a victory to retain their spot at the top. However, a loss in Dharamsala coupled with Australia winning their final Test against New Zealand would see the Aussies leapfrog to the top of the rankings.
India's premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah rejoined the squad for the fifth Test in Dharamsala. Bumrah was released from the Indian squad for the fourth Test on the grounds of workload management while KL Rahul remains sidelined.
India's updated squad for the 5th Test
Rohit Sharma (c), Jasprit Bumrah (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
