Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram was left extremely furious after the 6-run loss against India in match 19 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, on June 9 (Sunday). He said the Pakistan players have no game sense and PCB should change the entire team.
Wasim Akram slams Pakistan team
Despite chasing just 120 runs and losing only one wicket in the first 10 overs, the Pakistan team faced defeat at the hands of Indian bowlers. Wasim Akram who was part of the commentary team was really angry and said players like Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Iftikhar Ahmed have been playing cricket for 10 years but have no game sense.
"They have been playing cricket for 10 years, and I can’t teach them. Rizwan has no game awareness. He should have known that Bumrah was given the ball to take wickets and that the wise thing would have been to play his deliveries cautiously. But Rizwan went for a big shot and lost his wicket. Iftikhar Ahmed knows one shot on the leg side. He has been a part of the team for years but doesn’t know how to bat. I can’t go and tell about the game awareness to Fakhar Zaman. Pakistani players think that if they don’t perform well, the coaches will be sacked, and nothing will happen to them" Akram said on Star Sports.
Akram hints about internal rift between players
Wasim Akram did not name any player in particular but told the players who don't talk to each other should be made to sit at home. Recently, there have been a lot of rumours around rift between Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi following the captaincy shift but nothing is solid as of now.
"It is time to keep the coaches and change the entire team. There are players who don’t want to talk to each other. This is international cricket, and you play for your country. Make these players sit at home," Akram added.
