Virat Kohli gave a stern reply to all his strike-rate critics after Royal Challengers Bengaluru's thumping 9-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in match 46 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on April 28 (Sunday). Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif backed the former RCB skipper and said Kohli is in the same mode where he hit Haris Rauf for the iconic six in MCG during T20 World Cup 2022.
Mohammad Kaif backs Virat Kohli
Star batter Virat Kohli has been facing tons of criticism for not adopting to the new form of T20 cricket and having a low strike rate. Mohammad Kaif said that Kohli is showing that T20 is about more than just strike rate.
Virat Kohli once again shows T20 cricket isn't just about strike rate. To hit Haris Rauf for 6 at World T20 at a packed MCG and finish the game you need Sher ka Jigar not SR. Kohli is in same mode in this IPL," Mohammad Kaif wrote from his official ‘X’ account.
Virat Kohli's reply to strike rate critics
Virat Kohli completed 500 runs in yet another IPL season and is also holding the Orange Cap. After RCB's win over GT, Virat finally broke his silence on strike rate criticism. He said it is easy to talk but he has been doing this for 15 years now and it is more about winning the game.
“Not really, all the people who talk about strike-rates and me not playing spin well are the ones talking about this stuff. For me, it's about winning the games for the team and there's a reason why you've done it for 15 years, you've done this day in and day out, you've won games for your teams, I'm not quite sure that if you haven't been in that situation yourself, to sit and talk about the game from the box. For me, people can talk about their assumptions day in and day out, but those who have done day in and day out, they know what's happening and it's a kind of muscle memory for me now,” said Virat Kohli in the post-match presentation.
