KKR's home game against RR is expected to be rescheduled.

KKR's IPL 2024 clash against RR is lined up for April 17 at Eden Gardens.

The Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) home game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on April 17 is likely to be rescheduled, as reported by Cricbuzz. KKR were slated to take on RR at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering either moving the game to a different location or rescheduling it for another day. Notably, this potential change has been communicated to both the team, the state cricket association, and even the broadcasters.

Why KKR vs RR's IPL 2024 is expected to be rescheduled?

The reason for this uncertainty on the KKR versus RR' IPL 2024 match is the Rama Navami festival. This important celebration is observed with great devotion across India, and authorities are concerned about whether they'll have enough security personnel to handle both the festival and the IPL match on the same night. To make things even more complex, general elections are also happening in India around the same time. Taking all this into account, the BCCI is seriously considering postponing the KKR versus RR match.

BCCI and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) are currently discussing the situation with the Kolkata police regarding the upcoming IPL match between KKR and RR on April 17. While a final decision hasn't been made yet, the BCCI has informed both franchises and the broadcasters about the possibility of a schedule change. Notably, IPL 2024's schedule has been released in two phases. The initial release covered 21 games, and the remaining 53 matches were announced after the general election dates were confirmed. This careful planning ensured a balanced home-away format and avoided the easy option of relocating matches to the UAE to dodge election clashes.

However, the Rama Navami festival presents an unforeseen challenge. The BCCI might need to make minor adjustments to the schedule. An IPL official confirmed ongoing discussions with the police and a swift decision is expected. Meanwhile, both KKR and Rajasthan Royals are currently focused on their upcoming matches scheduled for April 3. KKR is in Visakhapatnam to face Delhi Capitals, while Rajasthan Royals are in Mumbai to take on Mumbai Indians. So far KKR have played two matches and won both of them, against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. On the other hand, RR also have emerged victorious in both of their outings against Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. While KKR are currently on top of the IPL 2024's points table with two victories, RR grab the third spot with as many wins.
