IPL 2024: MI batting coach Kieron Pollard and star batter Tim David heavily fined for unprofessional conduct; check reason here

Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tim David and batting coach Kieron Pollard both have been fined for breaching the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during the match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 18. During the match against the PBKS in Mullanpur, in the 15th over during MI’s batting, PBKS pacer Arshdeep Singh bowled a full delivery outside the off-stump, very close to the wide-line. Suryakumar Yadav was on the strike and the umpire didn’t give a wide signal.

However, in the MI dugout, head coach Mark Boucher was seen gesturing to Suryakumar that it was a wide delivery along with batting coach Kieron Pollard and batter Tim David were also seen urging Suryakumar to take the review. The video went viral on social media.

Now, both Tim David and Kieron Pollard are fined for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

"Mumbai Indians batter Tim David and Batting Coach Kieron Pollard have been fined for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct during their team’s Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Punjab Kings at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 18," IPL said in a release.
"David and Pollard committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. David and Pollard were each fined 20 percent of their respective match fees. Both admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the release added.

Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 so far

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians began their season slowly as they lost the opening three matches. Mumbai fought back with two consecutive wins and infused life into their season. After losing their sixth match, the Mumbai-based franchise held its nerve and avoided a major choke-job against the PBKS to register yet another win.

So far this season, Mumbai have played seven matches and won three contests.
