Rajasthan Royal's veteran pacer Sandeep Sharma picked up his first five-wicket haul in IPL during the clash against Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, on April 22 (Monday). His fifer helped RR restrict MI to 179/9 in 20 overs in the match 38 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2024. After his performance, Mohammad Kaif has vouched for his selection in the Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2024.
Mohammad Kaif on Sandeep Sharma
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has backed Sandeep Sharma's inclusion in the Indian team going for the T20 World Cup 2024. He highlighted his accolades and called him an underrated superstar.
“Sandeep Sharma is easily the most underrated IPL player. Goes about his job silently, is very brainy and a wicket-taker. 193 T20 wickets at 7.5 Economy. Not a bad idea to consider him for World T20, I think,” Mohammad Kaif wrote from his official ‘X’ account formerly known as Twitter.
Sandeep Sharma's fifer vs MI
Sandeep Sharma dismissed Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav inside batting powerplay and rattled the Mumbai Indians top-order. He later dismissed Tilak Varma, Tim David and Gerald Coetzee in the same over to pick up his fifer.
Apart from Sandeep, Trent Boult picked up two wickets. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan grabbed one wicket each. Tilak Varma scored the most runs for MI with 65 runs off 45 balls. He was backed by Nehal Wadhera, who scored 49 runs off 24 balls.
