Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders clinched their third Indian Premier League title after defeating Surnisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 Final in a dominant fashion by 8 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on May 26 (Sunday). The whole KKR camp burst into epic celebration as they ended their 10-year-long trophy drought. A team that no one was even considering for the top four in the beginning of the tournament not only finished at the top of the points table but also won the title in a one-sided affair.
Let's know what ‘The Knights’ of KKR had to say after their stunning win against SRH in IPL Final
KKR players after big win
"Can't express it as we are so happy," said Harshit Rana.
"Outstanding feeling right now. Dream has come true - I have been here for 7 years and we are so happy. Credit to GG sir. I will finally lift the IPL trophy. It was God's plan," said Rinku Singh.
"I think she will be watching, she is OK now. Before the match I spoke to my mom - I asked what do you want? she said, nothing just win. Salty played really well and my expectation as the World Cup was coming, I wanted to prepare, also I had to be ready if Salty got injured, I got it and I was well prepared. Twice I'm champion of IPL, I'm lucky. When you work hard for 2 months and the result, when it comes like this is special," said Gurbaz.
This has been a great season for me. All I can think of now is the person who has built the Indian core - Abhishek Nayar," said Varun Chakravarthy.
"Really happy, credit goes to Abhishek Nayar, all the credit in the world, the way he's worked for the franchise. Some contributions go unnoticed, I want to make sure they don't. He was the one who built this Indian core. We waited for 10 years, credit to the management and the coaching staff," said Venkatesh Iyer.
"It has been hard and we will celebrate now. The environment has been amazing and we gelled well together," said Ramandeep Singh.
"When GG bhai was appointed as the mentor I had messaged him and said I am very happy he's coming back to KKR, but he said that he would be happy if we are on that podium lifting the trophy. Today is that day and I will never forget that message," said Nitish Rana.
Great environment. GG and other coaches have created a nice environment," said Suyash Sharma.
"The feeling hasn't sunk in and might do when we party tonight," said Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

"My role is to take wickets with the new ball, we have very good spinners, so if we chipped in with 2-3 wickets, the spinners will do the rest," said Vaibhav Arora.
"It means everything. It has taken a very long time. I have been with the IPL for 16 years and it has taken me so many years to be a champion. The big man is here, this means a lot for him (on Russell)," said KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.
"Great night for KKR. What a game, what a series, what a season. Probably the two most exciting teams in the final, it was a great night. It was an upward journey from the start of the IPL till now. We've had a fantastic squad of bowlers and batters, our staff have been fantastic to get everyone peaking for the back end of the tournament. We've been such a consistent side, we haven't had one or two people standout, it's been contributions from everyone. Great to contribute personally, but the fact we had everyone contribute throughout has been a big part of the success," said Starc.
"Coming into the ground today, it felt like 2012. The feeling is overwhelming and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift. I am enjoying my cricket at the moment - batting, bowling and fielding. What helps is when the team is winning. We have a great bunch of guys who put out a lot of work throughout the season. The fight they gave throughout the season was very good and it shows how good a team we are. (Batting) Getting the role to just go there and express myself, trying to get the team off to a flier, that's key. The backing of the support staff, especially GG just saying - "go there and enjoy it, just try to win a few games for the team. I am not asking you to do the entire season, but just a few games." That was very good advice," said Narine.
"Absolutely comprehensive. This is what we demanded from the team and every individual. They stood up to the right occasion and the feeling is hard to express. It (wait) was so long, longer than the match. We played like invincibles throughout the season. There's so much to cherish right now. It is pleasing, the performance has been flawless throughout. I am running out of words right now. We have been tremendous from game one, we stepped up today. All we demanded from ourselves was to back each other whatever the situation is," said KKR captain Shreyas Iyer.
KKR beat SRH in IPL 2024 Final
SRH won the toss and elected to bat first, it seemed a good decision considering their run throughout this season. However, it just was not their day as the KKR bowlers-led by Mitchell Starc bowled them out on the paltry total of 113 runs, the lowest score in the history of IPL Finals. Starc picked up two big wickets in his three-over spell by just giving 14 runs. Then when it came to chase, KKR was quite comfortable there too. They did lose their openers but nothing more than a hiccup before the big victory.
