In a major boost to Team India, star batter KL Rahul is set to return for the upcoming 4th Test against England. The Sports Tak has learned that KL Rahul has enjoyed steady progress in his injury status and is expected to attain full match fitness before the 4th Test between India and England gets underway on February 24 in Ranchi.
"As of now, it looks like KL Rahul is reaching his match fitness and will be available for the next game," a top source in BCCI management told Sports Tak.
KL Rahul missed the 2nd and 3rd Test against England with a quadriceps injury. He was named in India's squad for the final three Tests against England but his selection for the 3rd Test in Rajkot depended on his injury status. Rahul failed to recover in the nick of time, and in the eleventh hour, Devdutt Padikkal replaced the right-handed batter.
Who will miss out if KL Rahul returns?
If KL Rahul attains full fitness, which he is expected to barring any last-minute setback, the stylish batter is likely to replace Rajat Patidar in India's playing XI. Barring Patidar, all the other Indian top-order batters have been among the runs in the ongoing Test series against England.
Rahul will then occupy the No.4 position in the batting order and provide the much-needed solidity to India's batting line-up, which at the moment lacks experience.
Jasprit Bumrah to miss 4th Test against England
Team India premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not feature in the upcoming fourth Test against England. The source confirmed that Bumrah will be resting from the upcoming Test match. Ā Bumrah won't fly to Ranchi along with the other Indian players as he has been given a rest on the grounds of workload management.
The decision comes after India defeated England by a historic margin of 434 runs in the 3rd Test match in Rajkot on February 18 and took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.Ā
