In a funny exchange before their high-voltage Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash, Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) batter Rinku Singh broke some bad news to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli. Rinku, upon meeting Kohli the day before the match, revealed that he'd managed to break the bat Kohli had gifted him after their previous encounter.
This wasn't their first meeting of the season. KKR had triumphed over RCB in their first clash, with Kohli even scoring a well-played 83 runs off 59 balls. Despite his performance, Kohli must have been feeling generous as he gifted Rinku a bat at the end of the match.
Rinku, who encountered Virat on the eve of the match, disclosed that he had broken the bat gifted to him by the RCB star. While Rinku detailed how the bat was broken, agitated Kohli made it very clear that he wasn't inclined to provide another bat, given that the KKR star had broken the previous one.
The lighthearted exchange between the two players regarding the broken bat was even captured on video by the KKR team.

Here is the excerpt from the chat between the two star batters:
Rinku Singh: I broke the bat (you gave) against a spinner.
Virat Kohli: My bat?
Rinku Singh: Yes
Virat Kohli: You broke it against a spinner? Where did you break it from?
Rinku Singh: From the middle.
Virat Kohli: What should I do then?
Rinku Singh:I was just informing you.
Virat Kohli:No problem. Good that you told me. But I don't need information.
Virat Kohli: This bat is no good.
Rinku Singh:Are you sending one?
Virat Kohli: To whom am I sending?
Rinku Singh:You can keep it (returns Virat's bats to him)
Virat Kohli:You took a bat from me previously. Now you want second bat in second game? Because of you, I face consequences later.
Rinku Singh:I swear on you, won't break the bat again. I can show you the broken bat

While Virat playfully declined another bat exchange in the video, knowing his sportsman spirit, it wouldn't be shocking if the RCB star secretly stashes another gift for Rinku after their match on Sunday. Kohli's known generosity might extend beyond the cameras, and Rinku might just walk away with a new bat after all.
Both the teams are heading into the match with a jolt they suffered in their respective last encounters. While RBC lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 25 runs in their previous match, KKR went down to Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring thriller.
