Talking about the match, CSK won the toss and opted to field first in their match against the GT. Openers Shubman Gill (104 runs off 55 balls) and Sai Sudharsan (103 runs off 51 balls) tore into the CSK bowling attack, putting on a mammoth 210-run partnership for the first wicket. Their dominant display powered the Titans to a formidable total of 231 runs for the loss of just 3 wickets in their 20 overs. Tushar Deshpande was the pick of the bowler for CSK as he took two wickets for 33 runs. Chasing a stiff target, CSK found themselves in early trouble, slumping 10/3. However, a valiant fightback from Daryl Mitchell (63 runs off 34 balls) and Moeen Ali (56 runs off 36 balls) kept their hopes alive. The pair stitched together a 109-run partnership, but once they departed, CSK's batting order crumbled. They were eventually restricted to 196/8 in their 20 overs, falling short of the target by 35 runs. Mohit Sharma (3 wickets for 31 runs) and Rashid Khan (2 wickets for 38 runs) were the key wicket-takers for the Gujarat Titans. Shubman Gill's exceptional knock earned him the well-deserved 'Player of the Match' award.
