Hardik replaced Rohit Sharma as MI captain ahead of the IPL 2024.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) team took a short break from the hustle and bustle of the IPL 2024 with a trip to Jamnagar before their upcoming match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 7. However, despite the change in scenery, the team finds itself under scrutiny.

Under the leadership of new captain Hardik Pandya, MI has yet to secure a win this season, losing all three of their matches played so far. This string of losses is further fueled by reports of a potential rift between Hardik and former captain Rohit Sharma. The decision to replace Rohit with Hardik as captain hasn't been well received by fans, who have expressed their displeasure through consistent booing at matches and online criticism. However, amidst these rumors, a glimmer of hope emerged. Photos from the Jamnagar trip showed Rohit and Hardik sharing a friendly greeting, sparking speculation that their relationship might not be as strained as initially reported.

Winning the remedy for MI's woes, says Broad

Adding to the pressure on Mumbai Indians, former England fast bowler Stuart Broad weighed in on their current slump. Broad believes the key to stopping the negative fan reaction, including the jeering of captain Hardik Pandya, is for the team to start winning matches. Victories would go a long way in silencing the boos and bringing back a more positive atmosphere within the stadiums.

"As a player it doesn't bother you at all, to be honest. It's part and parcel of international and top-flight sport," Broad said.

"You don't necessarily get that sort of environment and hostile feeling on your home ground. But I don't think the atmosphere can affect you as a proven performer. You still need to go out and deliver your skill." "Ultimately, Mumbai Indians is a winning franchise. It has got a winning mentality, and they're not winning. That's the most difficult thing they're coping with at the moment. What they need to do is just get back on winning ways," he further said.

As far as MI's performance in the ongoing IPL 2024 is concerned, they are sitting at the bottom of the IPL 2024's points table. They have suffered three straight losses, going down against Gujarat Titans (GT), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and then Rajasthan Royals (RR).
