Highlights:

Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh combined to steal 36 runs off last over in 3rd T20I vs Afghanistan.

While Rohit Sharma cracked two sixes, Rinku Singh belted three maximums in the last over.

Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh breathed fire in the third T20I against Afghanistan in Bengaluru as they became the first ever duo to score 36 runs in an over. India skipper Rohit and Rinku also matched the record for the highest number of runs scored in a single over in T20I. They achieved this feat by scoring 36 runs off Karim Janat's last over during the third T20I against Afghanistan on January 17.

Their explosive performance in the final over of the innings equalled the record previously set by Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard. Yuvraj Singh had hit six sixes in an over against England, while Pollard replicated the feat against Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh dramatically turned the game around for India, lifting the team from a challenging 22/4 in the fifth over to record the highest fifth-wicket partnership in T20 Internationals. Their outstanding 190-run stand off just 95 balls not only rescued India but also set a record for the highest partnership between Indian players for any wicket in T20Is.

The duo's exceptional performance included scoring 103 runs in the final five overs, propelling India to a strong total of 212/4 by the end of their innings. Captain Rohit achieved his fifth international T20 century during this match, the most by any batter worldwide, ending his innings with an unbeaten 121 runs off 69 balls. For context, Yuvraj Singh's famous hitting spree occurred against England's Stuart Broad during the first T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007, while Kieron Pollard's similar achievement came against Akila Dananjaya during a series match in Antigua in 2021.

Most runs hit in an over in T20Is:

36 - Yuvraj Singh vs Stuart Broad in 2007
36 - Kieron Pollard vs Akila Dhananjaya in 2021
36 - Rohit (4,6NB, 6, 1) & Rinku (6, 6, 6) vs Karim Janat in 2024*

Rohit ended up scoring 121 off 69 balls riding on 11 fours and eight sixes, while Rinku's 69 off 39-ball 69 was decorated with two sixes and six maximums.
