Suryakumar Yadav offers big update on Jasprit Bumrah ahead of 2nd T20I between India and Australia
After losing the first T20I in a confidence-shattering manner, Team India will eye redemption when they square off against Australia in the second T20I in Nagpur on September 23 (Friday). With just five T20Is remaining before the Men in Blue begin their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23, focus is on premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has missed a ton of action this year owing to an injury.
Bumrah missed the first game against Australia as well and in his absence, India has failed miserably to defend targets. Bumrah's Mumbai Indians teammate, Suryakumar Yadav provided an update on his fitness ahead of the second T20I.
Speaking on Bumrah's fitness in the virtual press conference, Suryakumar Yadav said, "There is no communication I am aware of. The physio and the management are aware. Members of the team are aware. Jasprit Bumrah is fit. Nothing to worry about."
The right-arm pacer has only played three T20Is this year and with T20 World Cup fast approaching, Team India will hope that Bumrah finds his best form as soon as possible.
Reflecting on the performance of the bowlers in the first game and what has been discussed to rectify mistakes, Suryakumar cited the impact of dew that made bowling that much more difficult.
"Nothing has been discussed. In the game in Mohali, there was dew. Australia kept attacking. We are trying our best," he said.
Suryakumar also spoke about Harshal Patel's ability when he was asked whether the right-arm bowler's off-cutters have become predictable.
"Harshal's bowling is deceptive. I don't practice much in the nets. I practice seperately. Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar) is difficult. Harshal's slower balls and variations is very difficult," he opined.
