T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be played from June 1 to June 29 promises to be the largest edition of the tournament to date, featuring a record 55 matches across nine cities—six in the Caribbean and three in the United States.
To manage the expected high demand for tickets, the ICC has introduced a public ticket ballot, aimed at ensuring a fair chance for all the fans to grab tickets of the showpiece event.
What is the process for obtaining T20 World Cup 2024 tickets through the public ballot?
The public ballot system for the T20 World Cup 2024 tickets will be different from the conventional first-come-first-served approach by offering every application submitted within a seven-day period, ending at 11:59 PM Antigua Standard Time on February 7th, 2024, an identical chance of being successful. Fans have the opportunity to request up to six tickets for each game, with no restriction on the number of games they can apply for, enabling them to fully engage with the tournament's atmosphere.
The event embraces the principles of inclusivity and accessibility through considerate ticket pricing, with rates beginning at just $6 and peaking at $25. This pricing strategy makes it feasible for a wide range of cricket enthusiasts to experience the excitement of the games.
After the closure of the ballot, any unallocated tickets will become available for open sale on February 22nd through the official website, tickets.t20worldcup.com, ensuring further opportunities for fans to participate.
Applicants who are selected in the ballot will be informed through email about the matches for which they have been allocated tickets. Following this, they will be provided with a link to finalize their purchase. Should the payment not be completed within the given deadline, the tickets will be returned to the general pool and made available for sale on a first-come-first-served basis.
The teams are divided into four groups
Group A - India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and USA.
Group B - England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman.
Group C - New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea.
Group D - South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal.
India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign in New York against Ireland on June 5. The highly anticipated India versus Pakistan clash will take place at the same venue on June 9. On June 12, India will take on co-hosts USA. India's first match in Florida will be against Canada on June 15. The group stage matches will be played from June 1 to 18. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 8 stage. It will be followed by Super 8 clashes which are scheduled to be held between June 19 and 24. The semi-finals will be played on June 26 and 27 in Guyana and Trinidad respectively. The final of the T20 World Cup will be played in Barbados on June 29.
